Builder/developer Problem:
A new 12-unit apartment building in a residential neighborhood. A sloping site created a challenge for code-required handicap accessibility requirements. Solution:
12000 SF . 2019 A defined entrance and recessed stair hall provide budget-conscious style. Dividing the building into two parts makes it more gracious, and helps integrate this large apartment structure into a neighborhood of small houses. The project meets building code by providing access on two levels: an entrance on the sloping side of the building, and an accessible entrance at grade level on the other side. All ground floor apartments are handicap accessible. |
