David Sisson, AIA, LEED AP
Principal Architect

David Sisson founded the firm in 2013, bringing with him two decades of large scale, public and institutional experience with expertise in municipal, educational and medical projects. He has carefully and expertly guided the firm with dedication to his clients throughout a wide range of project types including municipal, small and large scale multifamily residential, adaptive reuse, rehabilitation, historic preservation, commercial, religious and educational. 

David approaches all projects with the same core values: a committment to his client and their goals, dedication to excellence in design and documentation, open communication and a focus on sustainability and public safety. His clients know that his deep understanding of building code and critical and creative thinking continuall add value to every project he works on. 

He has served as an educator at both the University of Michigan and Rice University, and as a member of the Planning Board in Ypsilanti, Michigan. He currently sits on the Pawtucket Historic Commission and is a board member of several non-profits, including ACE Rhode Island. He is a registered architect in eight states and a proud member of the American Institute of Architects, the US Green Building Council, and the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards. He is a LEED Accredited Professional in Building Design and Construction. 

Karina Nurumova
​Job Captain

Karina Nurumova joined David Sisson Architecture in 2020. She earned both her Bachelor and Master of Architecture at Near East University in Cyprus. She sought to broaden her skillset and opportunities when she enrolled in the graduate Construction Management program at Roger Williams University. She gained valuable experience in construction management while at the Ahlborg Construction Corporation. Upon graduation from RWU, she was offered a role at David Sisson Architecture to assist in design and construction documentation.

Karina’s detail oriented focus makes her a valuable team member in both construction documentation, administration and management of submittals. She excels in interior architectural design and detailing, and commercial, industrial and municipal projects. Karina’s positive and friendly personality, passion for architecture and joy of learning are appreciated by both clients and staff.

Abd Soufan
​Job Captain

Abd Soufan joined David Sisson Architecture in 2019. After earning his Bachelor of Architecture degree at Near East University in Cyprus, Abd moved to the United States to join the graduate architectural program at Roger Williams University. While working towards his graduate degree, he joined David Sisson Architecture as an intern, eager to learn and apply his skills to real projects. Since completing his Master of Architecture, Abd’s hard work, motivation to learn and dedication to applying himself to all aspects of the business earned him an integral role at the firm. His calm, friendly and collaborative attitude are appreciated and respected as a team member.

​Our clients, partners and suppliers appreciate Abd’s clear and open communication. Throughout his time working under David Sisson’s direction, Abd has developed a keen understanding of building code and adds value to our clients with his code review. His experience with practical hands on construction provides a unique and valuable perspective when designing effective buildings. He is also valued for his excellent 3D visualization skills.

​Brooke McDermott
Architectural Designer

Brooke McDermott joined DSA in 2024 after completing her Bachelor and Master of Architecture degrees at Roger Williams University. Originally from Westchester County, NY - Brooke is enjoying settling in the Ocean State and continuing to expand her knowlege, applying it to real projects with the DSA team. With wide ranging interests complimenting her architectural ambitions, including dance, sculpture, tennis, travel and volunteer service, Brooke eagerly seeks knowledge and experience. Her passion and drive make her a great asset to the team and will propel her forward in the industry. 

Jenay Baker
Intern Architect

Jenay Baker graduated from Roger Williams University with a focus on architecture and cultural studies. A native Rhode Islander, she began her internship with the David Sisson Architecture team in 2024. Currently in pursuit of her Master of Architecture at Roger Williams, we are fortunate to continue to have Jenay contribute to a wide range of project types and develop her professional architectural skills at the firm.
