The computer lab serving the Photography Department at the Rhode Island School of Design was squeezed into a tight, narrow space adjacent to the equipment rental "cage". It was divided into small spaces that were inefficient and ultimately filled up with metal shelving and boxes for storage. The school sought to improve this corner of the building by opening the space up. We designed the bulk of the space into one large open room that could serve as a new computer lab or collaborative studio space, and reserved the corner of the building for a smaller private studio/office. The oversized windows of the historic property now flood the space with natural light and offer views of their East Side neighboring buildings.
