In late 2015 I came across a multi-family renovation project on Houzz, recently completed by Architect David Sisson. David’s project on Houzz presented several of the same challenges that I was preparing to undertake, in the same neighborhood, so I met him on site for a consultation. David came prepared with a portfolio of his work and he illustrated an articulate knowledge of his trade. Moreover, David’s recommendations demonstrated a balance between design, cost effective construction, practical sense, and marketability. For example, David was the first to point out that the cabinet system I initially selected would not work because the stairways in my building were not wide enough to accommodate the corner cabinet boxes. David’s observation saved us money and weeks on our construction schedule. Throughout the project I relied on David to manage changes, construction related quandaries, and permitting issues. I would regularly call David first, and my contractor, who was also excellent, second. Our project came in on time, on budget, and was absorbed by the market within 48 hours of issuance of our Certificate of Occupancy.
